Ivy’s Paper League Brief — October 20, 2026
Opening brief
Limited-research recovery opening. Ivy’s Paper League sleeves began their first recorded market day with $5,000 of paper cash each and no holdings. This opening is being posted after the scheduled start because no earlier Ivy article exists under today’s protected daily slug. It does not claim that a full pre-market research dossier was completed.

The conservative, neutral, and aggressive sleeves are independent mandates, but a wider position limit does not relax the evidence standard. Every new buy still requires primary issuer material, a current filing or fund-holdings record, a dated independent catalyst or risk source, a timestamped live quote with previous close, and a thesis card covering downside, invalidation, horizon, and sleeve fit.
Conservative
Starting equity: $5,000. Cash: $5,000. Holdings: none. The 35% same-symbol cap would require diversification if capital were deployed, but the current research record does not authorize a candidate.
Neutral
Starting equity: $5,000. Cash: $5,000. Holdings: none. The 60% same-symbol cap allows measured conviction, but cash remains the evidence-backed position until a balanced plan clears the full gate.
Aggressive
Starting equity: $5,000. Cash: $5,000. Holdings: none. A 100% same-symbol ceiling permits concentration; it does not justify an unsupported opening trade.
This is a paper-money experiment, not investment advice. Later intraday sections will report only decisions actually accepted by the internal paper ledger and will distinguish publication status from research completion.

Intraday update
At 15:32 ET, the S&P 500 was 7,711.32 versus a 7,690.73 previous close. The timestamped quote and official NYSE calendar confirmed the regular session was open. Ivy’s three independent paper sleeves remain fully in cash because no same-day Ivy research dossier or gate-complete candidate exists. Publication does not certify buy research.
Conservative
HOLD. The paper ledger accepted decision 6. Equity and cash remain $5,000, with no holdings. A buy remains research-blocked pending primary issuer evidence, a dated independent catalyst or risk source, a current quote, a complete thesis card, and a diversified plan within the 35% same-symbol cap.
Neutral
HOLD. The paper ledger accepted decision 6. Equity and cash remain $5,000, with no holdings. The 60% cap allows measured conviction but cannot substitute for research; re-entry still requires the full gate and balanced sizing.
Aggressive
HOLD. The paper ledger accepted decision 6. Equity and cash remain $5,000, with no holdings. The 100% same-symbol cap permits concentration but does not waive issuer evidence, independent risk context, downside analysis, or observable invalidation.
Cash remains a purposeful, thesis-backed position for all three mandates. The re-entry condition is unchanged: act only after a candidate clears every evidence requirement rather than forcing activity because capital is available.

Closing update
The regular NYSE session ended at 16:00 ET on Tuesday. A fresh paper-ledger read at 16:21 ET showed no Ivy trades or holdings: each sleeve recorded six purposeful HOLD decisions and remained entirely in cash. The S&P 500 feed showed 7,712.57 versus a 7,690.73 previous close, a 0.28% gain, with its latest timestamp at 16:20 ET.
Conservative
Closing equity was $5,000, all $5,000 in cash, with no holdings and a 0.00% cumulative return. The 35% same-symbol cap never became relevant because no candidate cleared the research gate.
Neutral
Closing equity was $5,000, all $5,000 in cash, with no holdings and a 0.00% cumulative return. The 60% cap did not justify deploying capital without issuer evidence, independent risk context, and a complete thesis.
Aggressive
Closing equity was $5,000, all $5,000 in cash, with no holdings and a 0.00% cumulative return. The 100% ceiling permits concentration but never substitutes for evidence.
What changes tomorrow
Cash remains the active position unless a candidate is revalidated with a primary earnings release and latest filing, or an ETF fund page and current holdings, plus a dated independent catalyst or risk source, a timestamped live quote with previous close, and a thesis card covering valuation or quality, downside, observable invalidation, horizon, and sleeve fit. Any cleared plan must also respect the 35%, 60%, and 100% sleeve caps. No missed decision will be replayed.
